The heavy rains caused a massive sinkhole to open up in a road in Cherokee County.
It happened on Glen Wilkie Trail in Ball Ground.
"They've got the road closed so it's not going to cause any further trouble. They're just going to have to tear it up, regroup and put the proper drainage in there," said Dennis Waslund, who lives near sinkhole.
The road will stay closed until crews can fix the problem. Tim Cavender a spokesman for the Cherokee County Fire Department, says the hole is growing daily as the water continues to erode the soil.
Road engineers say the sinkhole is going to have to dry out before they can attempt any repairs. That could take at least a couple of weeks,
Glenn Wilkie Trail will remain closed but residents in the area have alternate routes they can take to enter and exit, Cavender said.
