Atlanta police said a security guard shot a man early Wednesday morning.
It happened at the Pavilion Place Apartments on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta.
Police said it started when the guard responded to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at one of the units. They said the man and guard began scuffling in the parking lot when the man pointed a revolver at the guard. The guard ordered him to drop his weapon. When he didn't, the guard shot the man once in the leg.
The man then fled to some nearby woods. Police tracking dogs found him a short time later hiding in the bushes. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
People who live in the complex said the violence worried them.
"A lot of children are running around. We don't need stray bullets hitting anybody or hitting anybody's child, causing any deaths out here. It's really sad the kids have to walk through this every day," said Shaheed Bey.
Names were not immediately released. Charges against the man were expected.
