Alligator captured in Lawrenceville neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

Families in a Lawrenceville community don't have to worry about an alligator in their lake anymore.

For two years, they have watched an alligator living in Dunlin Lake that has grown increasingly larger.

On Wednesday, the alligator was captured by a reptile expert from Griffin.

That expert, Jason Clark, thinks someone probably had the gator as a pet, then dropped it at the lake a couple of years ago.

The alligator bit Clark as he captured it. The alligator left teeth marks on Clark's arm, but Clark said the injury didn't hurt.

Because the alligator has been around humans, Clark says the animal will likely have to be kept in captivity for the rest of its life.
