ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The man arrested in connection to a bump-and-jack style carjacking, waived his first court appearance Saturday.

Ronnie Lee Houston, 24, will next appear in court on May 27th.

U.S. Marshals said on May 1, Houston, 24, and another person are suspected of using a vehicle to "bump" the back of another vehicle, and then robbed and carjacked the victims as they got out to inspect the damage.

On Friday, marshals and the Atlanta Police Department found Houston hiding behind a washing machine at a home in southwest Atlanta. He was arrested without incident.

Investigators are still looking for more individuals involved.

Police said this is not the first time criminals have used this tactic.

They want people to take precaution if they are hit from behind in the near future.

Atlanta police advised the following if you are confronted by crooks using this tactic.

  • Don't exit your vehicle
  • Roll you windows up
  • Call 911
  • Leave your car in gear
  • Be prepared to drive off
