CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

All lanes of I-75 Northbound, just south of the Mt. Zion Boulevard exit, reopened Saturday morning after being closed for a deadly accident.

Officers with Clayton County Police Department arrived on the scene to find a male pedestrian on the pavement in the middle of the interstate. Two drivers had stopped. The pedestrian was already in the middle of the interstate when the two drivers struck the man according to witnesses.

Authorities released the name of the pedestrian who was killed. He was identified as John Scott Lewis, 22, of Missouri.

Clayton County police released in a statement Saturday that it was not known why Lewis was walking on the interstate.

The statement also advised that motorists should contact police when they see pedestrians on the interstate or if they themselves are stranded on the interstate.
