ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

World War II veterans return Tuesday night from a day-long trip to Washington, DC.

They arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where they were greeted by volunteers and other veterans.

Honor Flight Conyers sent them to see the World War II Memorial.

"Oh, it was just awesome. I went to all the monuments and memorials and for the first time, I saw the World War II monument. It was just awesome," said Oley Doty, World War II Army veteran.

According to Honor Flight Conyers, the country loses 900 World War II veterans daily.
