Atlanta police investigate if shootings are connected

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Atlanta police were investigating two separate shootings early Friday morning that they said could be connected.

Both happened in southeast Atlanta, just minutes apart.

On Phillips Drive, Captain Tim Peek with the Atlanta Police Department said someone shot a man, in his mid-thirties, twice near his chest. Peek said the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

On Lakewood Avenue, another man was shot twice, once in each leg. He was also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Peek said investigators did not have much information, including a description of the suspects or even a motive. That's because he said the victims weren't cooperating, especially in the Lakewood incident.

"The victim hasn't been fully truthful as far as letting us know all that's been going on over here. There's quite a number of shell casings, but unfortunately, we're not getting a lot of cooperation on it," said Peek.

Police planned to review surveillance video and canvas the neighborhood Friday for clues.

If you have information, contact Crimestoppers at (404) 577-TIPS. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to a successful prosecution.
