ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office has released the identity of the person killed in an accident which snarled traffic on I-20 for several  hours Saturday morning.

The man killed was identified as John Elder of Atlanta. He was 70. Investigators told CBS Atlanta News that Elder died from injuries incurred from the wreck.

It all started around 7:30 a.m. when an SUV collided with the median wall on I-20 eastbound near the H.E. Holmes Drive exit.

Traffic delays were as far back as I-285, and motorists traveling eastbound from Douglasville were forced to take alternate routes.

The Georgia Department of Transportation cleared the scene by 11 a.m., but the traffic didn't fully unclog until noon.
