Gwinnett County helps Oklahoma tornado victims with pet food drive

Posted: Updated:

Officials in Gwinnett County want to help pets of the Oklahoma tornado victims.

Gwinnett's Police Animal and Welfare Enforcement Unit is doing a pet food and supply drive. The items will be shipped to the only functioning animal shelter in Moore, OK.

"Not only for the shelter, but also for the people who have lost everything," said Chip Moore, director for the Animal Welfare and Enforcement Unit. "They have nothing and to be able to keep their pets with them, that's going to be able to help them maintain a sense of normalcy as much as humanly possible."

You can make donations now through Tuesday. Drop your items off at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter at 884 Winder Hwy. in Lawrenceville. The hours of operation each day are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also contact the shelter at 770-339-3200.
