Amanda Allen displays her award-winning ice cream "Graham Ole Opry."
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
If you've never been to the Grand Ole Opry, soon you'll be able to taste it.
The "Graham Ole Opry" ice cream flavor won best in show at Sunday's 28th annual Miss Martha's Ice Cream Crankin' fundraiser.
By next summer, Purity will begin producing the flavor.
The brains behind the sweet treat, Amanda Allen, 22, is a recent college grad who says her ice cream is an ode to Nashville and the Goo Goo Cluster candy.
"I recently returned to Nashville from college, so I think I was feeling a lot of city pride in being here again. My midlife crisis plan is to open up an ice cream shop somewhere, so it's nice to know that I am creating flavors that people think are worth eating," said Allen.
The ice cream is a graham cracker flavor made with chopped peanuts, caramel swirls and chocolate covered graham chunks.
Allen said it took about two weeks to develop "Graham Ole Opry," which included plenty of taste testing.
