Vigil held for Morehouse College student

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Students held a vigil on Saturday night for Morehouse College student Joseph Gibbs. They gathered at the spot where police said he was killed.

Atlanta police said two men were shot near the Morehouse College campus Thursday night.

Police said Joseph Gibbs, 23, was fatally shot in the head near Parsons Street and Webster Street.

Another man was shot in the hand near Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard and James P. Brawley Drive.

John Silvanus Wilson Jr., president of Morehouse College, sent a notice students and faculty that said in part:

"Under any circumstance, the loss of a young life is difficult to accept. But tragedies such as this demand that more be done to ensure the safety of our students.To this end, I am committed to continuing our efforts with the Atlanta police to find new ways to address the problem of crime in the area. I am also committed to making sure that we at Morehouse do our part to create an environment defined by a high level of personal responsibility and zero tolerance for violence."
