COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Officials at the Chattahoochee River National Park said maybe a seven-foot-long alligator living there isn't such a good idea, after all.

Wildlife experts believe the gator was someone's pet, illegally dropped at the park a few years ago.

The gator has since made a home near a major walking trail.

It hasn't bothered anyone, but one park official told CBS Atlanta News they've decided it's time to have it removed to a wildlife habitat.

First they have to find it, and no one has seen it recently.
