Permanent fix for collapsed bridge underway at mobile home park

Posted: Updated:

After heavy rain Monday morning contributed to the collapse of the only road in and out of a Marietta mobile home park, a property manager at the Pine Haven mobile home community said they were able to complete a temporary fix using steel plates Monday evening.

RHP Properties spokesman Randy Iaquinto said they expect to have a permanent fix to the faulty drain system and pavement collapse complete by Tuesday afternoon, weather permitting.

Dozens of residents were left stranded Monday morning by the collapse of the bridge, which is the only road in and out of the Pine Haven community. Some residents said it's not the first time the road has collapsed, and that the previous owners never fully fixed the problem.

Iaquinto said RHP Properties purchased the mobile home park in January and have had to perform only minor repairs on the bridge since then, prior to Monday. He said a new drain culvert, which they plan to install, is the key component to prevent a similar collapse from happening in the future.
