Police warn Suwanee residents of phone scam

Posted: Updated:

Police in Suwanee are warning people who live there about a phone scam.

Authorities say thieves are calling residents claiming to be a police officer and demanding money for a ticket or warrant.

They say the person on the phone threatens to have the victim arrested if they don't pay immediately with a credit card.

Suwanee police say they do not and will not call residents asking them to pay fines.

They warn people not to give out credit card or personal information over the phone to people who claim they are police officers or from a financial institution.
