The American medium-range forecast model (also known as the GFS) is forecasting a tropical system for the Gulf of Mexico to start July.
The latest update shows the potential tropical system making landfall along the middle Gulf coast on July 2. If this holds true, the system could impact North Georgia and Atlanta with rain.
It's worth noting that this scenario falls outside the typical seven-day forecast period, which means the model could and will likely change quite a bit.
I originally mentioned the possibility of tropical development on my Facebook page Thursday. I'll continue to update this story every day with the latest update.
