Cobb County Animal Control will host a big arts and crafts festival Saturday with the goal of generating interest in its shelter and homeless animals.
The second annual ART-Barks and Purrs, held at the shelter, will feature more than 30 local vendors who have animal-related art in their line.
Organizers say the festival is designed to attract people to the shelter and open their eyes to the many animals needing forever homes. "If someone has never been to our shelter, they should come check us out. We're not your old-school 'dog pound' - our shelter is a bright, clean, hopeful place," said Facility Operations Manager Billy Mayfield, in a written release.
The free event is from 10 a.m. until four p.m. at 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta.
