Charges expected in fatal weekend motorcycle accident

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

An Atlanta man was killed while riding his motorcycle in Cobb County on Saturday night. Charges are expected to be filed according to Cobb County police.

The motorcyclist killed in the crash has been identified as Marc R. Ullmann, 44, of Atlanta according to authorities.

Investigators said Ullmann was riding his red and white 2007 Aprilia motorcycle south on Cobb Parkway approaching Paces Mill Road around 9 p.m.

At the same time, the driver of a red 2009 Mercedes C300 automobile was attempting to turn right from eastbound Paces Mill Road onto southbound Cobb Parkway. As Ullmann approached the intersection, the driver of the Mercedes attempted to do a U-turn to go back westbound on Paces Mill Road.

Ullmann's motorcycle struck the driver's side of the Mercedes. He was ejected from the motorcycle. Ullmann was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he later died.

Police identified the driver of the Mercedes as Demond Tate, 28, of Atlanta. He was also taken to Kennestone hospital. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
