People in the Fourth Ward attended a meeting Monday night to hear about a new building proposal along Boulevard.
They listened to the proposal from the Wingate Management Company to build a senior living facility.
Wingate also managed Bedford Pines, a housing development that was plagued by crime and deplorable living conditions.
Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall talked about the strained relationship between Wingate and the community. "Of course, that did not come without some difficult conversations still around their current property."
Hall said they discussed long-term plans for other buildings in the corridor and addressing crime.
CBS Atlanta's coverage of this story brought attention to Bedford Pines.
City leaders and Wingate have since pledged to make improvements.
Hall launched the Year of Boulevard Initiative to help implement those changes.
