City of Smyrna statement:

"The City of Smyrna seeks to continue to safeguard public funds. There were rules and procedures in place for this position at the time of employment that were violated, but we are taking further steps that focus on applying more checks and balances. The City of Smyrna will continue to offer quality services to citizens with strengthened internal controls and increased review and evaluation of all procedures.

Management is in the process of applying multiple layers of regularly scheduled as well as spontaneous and random managerial review of all financial data with direct oversight regarding void requests.  There will be an emphasis on reviewing the entire process from bookings to revenue accounting. "
