PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

A teenager is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a bicyclist in northwest Phoenix in June, authorities said.

Phoenix police said Monday that the 17-year-old boy is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and misconduct involving a weapon

Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said 51-year-old Arnold Hamel was riding near 17th Avenue and Hatcher Road about 2:45 a.m. Thursday when a white pickup truck slowly drove by.

A man fired multiple shots from inside the truck, hitting the bicyclist.

He was taken to a Phoenix hospital where he died.

Investigators say the teen and Hamel had some sort of brief argument before the shooting
