Heavy traffic and limited parking expected for Chipper Jones ceremony

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Atlanta Braves are expecting a standing room-only crowd for Friday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, prior to which the team will honor longtime Braves third baseman and outfielder Chipper Jones.

Jones played 19 seasons for the Braves between 1993-2012, and is considered by many to be a lock for induction into baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. The Braves will retire his no. 10 jersey in a pre-game ceremony starting at 7 p.m.

Because of the early start and the expectation for a large crowd to arrive early, the Braves are warning fans to make alternate plans for parking and transportation, as the official stadium parking lots have already sold out.

Fans can find off-site parking around the stadium, though prices sometimes go as high as $40 per vehicle for the lots that are not affiliated with the Braves. For fans taking MARTA, exit at the Five Points station and look for the free shuttle service that takes fans to the stadium.

Traffic is expected to be heavy throughout downtown Atlanta with the high volume of early-arriving fans adding to the typical Friday afternoon rush hour.
