Lightning sparks Roswell house fire

ROSWELL, GA (CBS46) -

Fire officials say lightning is to blame for a fire that caused heavy damage to a Roswell home Monday evening.

Roswell fire crews responded to a home in the 100 block of Larney Court just after 7 p.m. Smoke and flames were billowing from the roof of the home when crews arrived at the scene. A resident that lives across the street called 911 to report the lightning strike and fire.

Fortunately, Roswell fire crews were in the area on another call and were able to get to the home within minutes. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the roof and attic. The homeowners arrived shortly after the fire started. They are currently staying with a neighbor.
