Freddie Freeman can now add Major-League All-Star to his resume.

The Braves' first baseman broke a record for votes as he edged out some tough competition for the final spot on the National-League roster.

Fans here said there isn't a guy who deserves it more.

Freeman hit a double in his first bat Thursday night against the Cincinnati Reds, as fans chanted "Freddie! Freddie!"

Fans, like Cory Konter, said plays like that are exactly why they voted Freeman onto the national All-Star Team.

"He is the most deserving of any player right now on the Atlanta Braves roster," Konter said.

Making the team wasn't easy.

Many considered Freeman a long shot, but fans logged onto Major League Baseball's website, twitter and other social media sites and voted.

"I stayed on and voted for about 5 hours, just entered the text number and we got him into the game," said fan Ryan Lewis. "I think it's a testament to braves' country, and how awesome the fan base is."

"I'm stoked about it. I voted for him over 100 times," said Brian Greenblat, took to heart the old saying "vote early and vote often."

Freeman beat out 10 other players, including Los Angeles Dodgers' sensation Yasiel Puig, for the final spot on the National-League roster.

Freeman set a record on Major League Baseball's final vote with 19.7 million ballots, shattering the previous record of 15.6 million set in 2009.

One of Freeman's youngest fans, Avery Baldwin, was so surprised she could barely contain her excitement.

"My body is filled with joy!" Baldwin said.

Freeman tweeted his thanks, saying "words can't describe how thankful I am to all the fans! This is a dream come true and it wouldn't have happened without you guys."
