Marietta Boulevard is a very busy roadway in northwest Atlanta.
There are six lanes of traffic, but often times one of those lanes is blocked.
"Mostly it's a safety concern of me having to drive around this bus that I can't see around," resident Tim Gravitt said.
Gravitt said he sees it every day, MARTA bus drivers will use their bus stops as parking spots to get out and walk around.
"Bus drivers go into Wendy's, they go into CVS," Gravitt said.
They take breaks that can last up to 30 minutes, causing serious traffic jams.
Plus, CBS Atlanta News spotted one driver walking off the bus with it running and the door wide open. So we asked him if that was normal protocol.
"This is a bus stop," the MARTA driver said.
"It's a bus stop, not a bus stand. It sits there for 10 to 20 minutes depending on the time of day," Gravitt said.
Buses also parked in the road outside the Wendy's on Marietta Boulevard, which is not a designated bus stop.
Plus, CBS Atlanta News noticed a similar concern on Coronet Way at Moores Mill Road.
"I saw a big truck trying to get around the bus and if there was a car coming on Moores Mill, turning left, it could potentially be a bad wreck," Gravitt said.
CBS Atlanta News contacted MARTA's corporate office and they issued the following statement.
"The safety and security of MARTA's customers, employees and the general public is our top priority. MARTA's Bus Operators work under extremely challenging circumstances to provide quality transit service and we are taking additional steps to ensure their vehicles are parked safely in designated layover areas where they don't impede traffic or block access to businesses located along their routes," MARTA spokesperson Lyle Harris said.
