FAIRBURN, GA (CBS46) -

Georgia State Patrol has identified the driver who was killed fleeing police in a stolen car.

Cheyenne Pierce, 17, was killed in a crash on I-85 in the southbound lanes when she lost control of the BMW she was driving Sunday.

Pierce and her passenger are accused of carjacking the BMW in Union City. Officers began a pursuit which ended with the crash on I-85 just south of Senoia Road in Fairburn.

TPR Rick Ceballos told CBS Atlanta News that the driver reached speeds that forced the officers to pull back from the chase for the safety of other motorists.

"It was upwards of 100 mph as far as we know," said Ceballos.

Pierce and her passenger, Demetrius Roberts, 18, were ejected from the car when it crashed. Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene while Roberts was taken to Grady for his injuries.
