DeKalb County sheriff considers running for Congress

Posted: Updated:

DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown is shooting for a higher office.

Wednesday, he announced the formation of an exploratory committee.

He's interested in running against U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson for the 4th Congressional Seat.

Brown was elected sheriff of DeKalb County 12 years ago after his predecessor was assassinated.

Brown says he's interested in running because Johnson isn't doing much for the district.

The sheriff says the exploratory committee will get a feel for the number of votes he can get and the amount of campaign money he can raise.
