Kelso police have arrested a man they say detonated a bomb in an attempt to convince a woman to pay off a $100 debt. But now he faces a much higher bail.
It happened Tuesday morning near Eighth Avenue and Laurel Street. Police say David Fox filled a five-gallon bucket with fuel, put it in the woman's yard and then tossed a lit firecracker inside. She told police Fox was mad about a debt that her now ex-boyfriend owed him over the sale of a car.
Fox faces a charge of suspicion of setting off a prohibited explosive device. He was arrested and his bail was set at $10,000.
Police say Fox told them the explosion was "no big deal."
