ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Sudden severe weather hit metro Atlanta causing problems from street flooding to trees down Saturday afternoon.

Atlanta police had to close Mount Paran Road in northwest Atlanta near Paces Ferry Road after a tree came down. It also knocked out power to some homes in the area.

One resident told CBS Atlanta News that the power outage put a damper on their dinner party plans.

Just up the road on I-75 drivers were hit with heavy rains causing water to collect on parts of the roadway.

In South Fulton County, street flooding hit New Hope Road between Scotland Drive SW and Loch Lomond Trial SW.

An emergency spillway at Wrights Lake was letting water towards Kings Lake. Water rose and authorities closed the street. Residents told CBS Atlanta that water reached the tops of mailboxes.

Fulton County Sheriff's office stated that Vandiver Road at Union Road closed because of flooding as well.

Authorities said there were no reports of missing residents, but crews were nearby for any citizens needing help.
