Panama City, Fla. -

Panama City Beach Police are investigating two separate incidents involving Georgia men at Bay County Beaches.

A man from Rex drowned Saturday. Police say Tony Underwood Jr. was swimming when he lost his grip on a floatation device and was swept underwater in an undertow. Another person who was swimming with Underwood was able to make it safely to shore.

Korvotney Barber from Manchester was the second Georgian to drown over the weekend in the Gulf of Mexico. Barber was swimming Saturday evening with friends. According to police spokesman, Cpl. Jason Gleason, Barber and friends got caught in an undertow. Barber was the only one that didn't make it back to shore. Barber is a former basketball player for Auburn University.

The incidents are not related, however, both victims were in areas where swimming was prohibited due to dangerous surf conditions.
