A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed during an attempted carjacking on Sylvia Drive in Forest Park late Monday night.

Clayton County police said Steven Diaz-Galindo was placing air into the tire of his sister's vehicle when a red SUV pulled up and two men demanded the keys and their belongings.

One man had a baseball bat and the other, a shotgun.

When the robbery started, Samaria Diaz said she did exactly what she was told.

She gave the men her car keys and all of her money, but that still wasn't good enough.

"He said, 'Give me the chains' and then he ripped them off my neck," said Diaz.

The second man attempted to crank the vehicle but it did not start.

Diaz said one man started the hitting the truck with the bat and the other man started shooting the gun.

"The other one just started shooting the windshield. When we heard the first shot, we tried to run," said Diaz.

Both victims attempted to run away, however, Steven was shot.

"I took a few steps. He fell on the ground so I grabbed his hand so we could run together and he said, 'Samaria, come back. I got shot.' He said, 'Ouch it hurts, it hurts," recalled Diaz.

Diaz stayed by her brother, trying to give him CPR, while covered in his blood. Unfortunately, Steven died of his injuries at the hospital.

"Who would have ever thought my little brother would have his dreams crushed," said Diaz.

Police have not released a description of the suspects.
