Investigators continue to search for a suspect who shot a Cobb County police officer at 300 Hurt Road SE in Smyrna.

On July 12, Officer D. Rogers was involved in a chase with the suspect around 1:00 a.m.

During the pursuit, the suspect pulled out a handgun, and shot the officer one time in the chest.

The officer was not injured, because he was wearing his departmental issued ballistic vest.

On July 23, National Police Defense Foundation out of Morganville, NJ announced they will contribute an additional $10,000 Safe Cop Reward in connection with the case.

This is in addition to the current reward of up to $5,000 offered by Atlanta Crime Stoppers.

Investigators ask that anyone with information about this case call 770-499-3945 or 404-577-TIPS.
