Henry County police are asking for the public's help in locating two women who are accused of distracting an elderly woman to steal her wallet.
The incident happened as the elderly victim was at Goodwill on Jonesboro Road in McDonough. A woman she did not know approached her and started talking with her.
A few minutes later, a second woman came up to them claiming she had found a large sum of money. The second woman asked if they would help her claim the money for an equal share. She persuaded the victim to drive her to Walgreens a few blocks up the street.
The first woman who began the conversation with the victim followed the two in her vehicle. At some point, the two female suspects wanted the victim to obtain $10,000. This is when the victim realized the situation was a scam and told the second female to get out of her car.
A short time later, the elderly woman realized her wallet had been stolen. Anyone with information identifying the suspects is asked to call the Henry County Police Department. Copyright 2013 WGCL-TV (Meredith Corporation). All rights reserved.
