Driver indicted in Smyrna officer-involved hit-and-run

COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Cobb Grand Jury has indicted a driver on charges of seriously injuring a Smyrna Police motorcycle officer near Ridge Road.

The indictment alleges that Jennifer Karen Cook, 23, was driving on South Cobb Drive on May 8, 2012, when she made a left turn into the path of Cpl. Eugene Smith.

The indictment charges Cook with serious injury by vehicle and hit and run, both felonies, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

If convicted of all charges, she could be sentenced to up to 21 years in prison and fined $1,000.
