Fairburn police say a one-year-old boy has been returned to his father after he was taken by a non-custodial parent.
According to police, the child's mother, 23-year old Porsha Reeder, arrived at the Harbor Lakes apartment complex for a supervised visit with her son, Bruce David Roberts III, at 4 p.m. Saturday. Reeder took the child and left the complex.
The child's father, Bruce David Roberts Jr., immediately contacted Reeder after realizing she'd left the area. She refused to return the boy.
Police say Reeder dropped the child off at her mother's home in Gwinnett County. The boy wasn't injured and has been reunited with his father.
Roberts, Jr. released the following statement:
"I would like to thank GOD for the safe return of my son. My family is very appreciative to Fairburn PD for the immediate effective steps they took to get the alert out statewide. Thank you to Gwinnet County PD for recovering my son safely and to all news broadcasting stations that supported the Missing Persons alert. I appreciate everybody's support, concerns and prayers."
Fairburn police say they still plan to charge Reeder, but she hasn't been located.
