Back-to-school drive held in honor of murdered Douglasville teen

DOUGLASVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

A back-to-school supply drive will take place Saturday, in honor of Bobby Tillman.

Tillman, 18, was randomly beaten to death by four teens outside of a Douglasville house party in November 2010. He would have turned 21 years old this month.

Two programs are joining forces to host the back-to-school drive, Youth Against Violence (YAV) and Brother from Another Mother (BFAM, Inc.). YAV was created by Douglasville police to help teens have a second chance after committing an offense. BFAM was founded after Tillman's death to carry a message of acceptance and love.

People attending the drive are asked to bring school supplies to be distributed to elementary and middle schools throughout Douglas County. There will also be food and music.

The back-to-school drive is from 2-7 p.m. Saturday at the Douglasville Police Station's Community Building, located at 2083 Fairburn Road.
