Man shot, killed at Atlanta gas station

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta police rushed to the Chevron on Northside Drive after a 911 call about a shooting.

"The shots seemed to be kind of loud like a big caliber gun. It sounded like a .45 or something," said Carl Duncan.

Duncan told police he was walking in the area when the gunfire erupted.

"I heard gunshots, two gunshots and I saw a woman running toward Martin Luther King Jr. Drive like she was scared of the gunshots and then went over to the gas station and saw the victim laid out," said Duncan.

Duncan said he spoke to a woman who said she talked to the victim just seconds before he was shot.

"She went inside the store to purchase something from out of there, and when she came back out, she heard the shots. She came back out and he was laying on his back, already dead," said Duncan.

"We don't feel this is a random act. It appears, based on what we know, the individual that was shot was targeted for one reason or another, so at this point it doesn't appear to be a random drive-by shooting," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci, with the Atlanta Police Department's homicide unit.
