Two people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after their home caught fire in Gwinnett County.
When firefighters arrived to the home on Lester Road in Lilburn, the garage was engulfed in flames.
A man and a woman, between 60 and 70-years-old, were found inside the home unresponsive. They were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with advanced life support measures in progress.
However, they might not have made it at all had it not been for a passer-by who noticed the smoke and flames and called 911.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause.
"The heaviest fire involvement seems to be on the garage side of the home, exactly where that fire started, whether it was in the garage or adjacent to, is still under investigation at this point," said Gwinnett County Fire Department Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
Firefighters said the fire gutted the entire home.
cause of fire is under investigation.
