CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

All lanes of I-75 northbound in Clayton County have reopened following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.

According to authorities, a tractor-trailer struck and killed the pedestrian just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes just north of Highway 138. The Georgia Department of Transportation closed all northbound lanes for about three hours as investigators gathered evidence and questioned witnesses. Motorists driving into Atlanta from Henry County were diverted from I-75 to I-675.

GDOT reported the tractor-trailer was carrying a load of furniture. The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
