Atlanta home prices soar 19% over past year

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (CBS46/AP) -

There is good news if you're trying to sell a house in Atlanta.

A key index says home prices are 19 percent higher than they were in June 2012. That's even better than the national average, which is up 12.1 percent.

Atlanta home prices rose 3.4 percent from May to June, the largest increase of the 20 cities tracked by the Case-Shiller Index.

There are concerns, however.  The latest report suggests the pace of home prices has showed signs of slowing, as rising mortgage rates begin to weigh on home sales.
