GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Gwinnett County fire crews and swift water rescue teams found the body of a man who went overboard in the Chattahoochee River Thursday afternoon.

Thomas Marvin Luckett, 69, of Dunwoody, and a friend were traveling on a 12-foot Jon boat when the boat hit a "snag" or a log in the water, giving enough of a jolt to the vessel to cause Luckett to fall overboard.

He did not resurface after falling into the water. Rescue crews were told Luckett was not wearing a life vest and could not swim.

The Johns Creek Fire Department found Luckett's body just north of the old Jones Bridge structure around 1:30 p.m.

CBS Atlanta News will have more information as it becomes available.
