A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning on I-85 northbound, near the Sugarloaf Parkway exit.
Gwinnett County police said Briahna Baker, 23, of Suwanee, was a passenger inside of a car heading northbound on I-85.
Police said Baker and the driver got into an argument about the state of Baker's intoxication. Moments later, the driver pulled to the side of I-85 and allowed Baker to exit the car.
The driver told detectives Baker refused to get back into the car, so the driver left Baker on the far right side of I-85.
Gwinnett County police said they received numerous calls regarding a person stumbling into the roadway who appeared to be intoxicated. Prior to the officer's arrival, Baker was struck by a car traveling northbound on I-85, just south of Sugarloaf Parkway.
Officers said Baker died on the scene as a result of her injuries from the accident. Police also said Baker may have been intoxicated.
Gwinnett County police report no charges are pending against the driver.
