LSU is nearing the end of its preparations for Saturday's season opener at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, against TCU.
The Horned Frogs may be coming off a six-loss season, but in 2009 and 2010, they played in BCS bowl games. In 2011, the team didn't reach a BCS bowl, but still finished 11-2.
"It's just as physical as Alabama or any other team we play," said senior running back Alfred Blue. "We've just got to gather. We can't take them lightly and just have to get after them fast."
"When you look at the 2011 year, that was our greatest season in this new history to me," added junior defensive tackle Anthony "Freak" Johnson. "We went 13-1 and we started off with a tough schedule."
TCU returns nine starters from a defense that ranked first overall in the Big 12 and intercepted 21 passes as a team. Cornerback Jason Verrett is a dangerous defender and had six of those picks.
"They've got great players," said junior wide receiver Jarvis Landry. "They're going to make great plays. But, our ability to just control the ball; I think that's going to be the biggest thing."
"The teams that had some success against us stacking the box and then just has to throw it over the top, so I definitely assume that's going to happen again and we're going to have our one-on-one opportunities outside," senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger explained.
Kickoff for the 2013 Cowboys Classic is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
