A north Georgia community welcomed a famous face for a special cause Thursday night.
Reigning Miss America Mallory Hagan appeared in Habersham County for their annual Prevent Child Abuse Habersham fundraiser.
"Unfortunately, it happens everywhere in every community. It knows no boundaries," Hagan said.
Hagan's platform is preventing child sexual abuse and she was the keynote speaker at the event which raised over $50,000.
"It's not stranger danger. That's what our kids are learning in school, unfortunately. Don't take candy from a stranger. It's not the strangers out there that are doing the things that are hurting the kids across the country," Hagan said.
Thursday's fundraiser took place inside the Swanson Center on the campus of Piedmont College. The money raised at the event will be used to prevent child abuse in Habersham County.
