LITHONIA, GA (CBS46) -

DeKalb County police said a man was shot once inside the QuikTrip on Rockbridge Road in Lithonia.

The suspect remains at large. Investigators said the victim was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

"Two individuals entered the store, got into an argument while inside the store, the argument turned into a fight," said Lt. Mark Lavigne with the DeKalb County Police Department. "One subject left the store, came back moments later with a firearm, and shot at the victim, one time striking the victim."

The suspect ran from the scene and fled in a car. Surveillance cameras at the QuikTrip captured the crime on video.

During the shooting there were customers and workers inside the QuikTrip. Witnesses were able to give a detailed description of what happened, and of the shooter. With Monday being a holiday, police said it's lucky no one else was hit by gunfire.

"Labor Day weekend, so many people off, kids out here, it is the middle of the afternoon," Lavigne said. "It is a very disturbing crime."
