CBS Atlanta expanding weekend morning news program

Posted: Updated:

CBS Atlanta is expanding its successful morning news program to add another hour on the weekends.

The station's morning news launched in 2007 and has been growing ever since. The show's success can be credited in large part to its unique blend of news, weather, traffic, consumer alerts and anything happening "right now".

CBS Atlanta News airs from 4:30-7am on the weekdays.

On Saturdays, CBS Atlanta will now air a two-hour version from 7-9am.

The two-hour newscast will be staffed by two personalities already familiar to viewers.

Jocelyn Connell has done her share of reporting and anchoring for the morning news, and has kicked off the existing weekend news as well.

Meteorologist Paul Ossmann has been on the air in Atlanta for 24 years, and is currently serving as the weekend meteorologist for CBS Atlanta.

Lane Michaelsen, Director of News, says the expansion is part of the station's commitment to Atlanta.  "In adding people, adding content and adding news times, CBS Atlanta continues its commitment to the community," said Michaelsen.  "Our new expanding Saturday morning is designed to fit in with your morning routine:  What's the news, what's the weather and what's there to do.  Jocelyn Connell and Paul Ossmann will prepare you for your weekend with a smile."

The new expanded schedule launches this Saturday, September 14th.
