Police investigate a deadly shooting in East Atlanta.
Deadly shooting leaves man dead
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
Police are trying to figure out what prompted a woman to fatally shoot a man inside her East Atlanta home.
The call came in at about 2:30 a.m. from the 800 block of Clifton Road near Flat Shoals Road.
The deceased is a 31-year-old man, police said.
"The two did know each other, so it's not a stranger-on-stranger event," said Capt. Paul Guerrucci, the Atlanta Police Department's homicide commander. "All the specific details as to why the shooting actually occurred are still under investigation."
Detectives said they do not believe the man lived in the home. There were no signs of a break-in.
Officers were looking into whether the woman was assaulted. Paramedics took her to a hospital to be checked out.
Investigators from the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office removed the body from the inside of the home at about 6:40 a.m.
