DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Investigators were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting along Tobie Grant Lane in DeKalb County.

Officers attempted to stop 29-year-old Deangelo A. Ivy, but he rammed the patrol car head-on, according reports.

A second officer pulled in behind Ivy's vehicle and exited his patrol car.

Ivy put the vehicle in reverse and began backing toward the officer, according to DeKalb police Capt. Steven R. Fore.

"The officer was stuck between his vehicle and a fence line. Fearing for his safety, the officer discharged his weapon into the vehicle," said Fore.

Ivy's car backed into an embankment where he was arrested.

Ivy was booked into the DeKalb County jail at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. He is charged with aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and obstruction of officers.
