While the Gamecocks get a week off following last week's win over Vanderbilt, defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward says his defensive unit is suffering from a lot more foot injuries than normal.
"You always want to build a continuity having the
same 11 guys that are starters playing, but it's something you have to deal
with," said Ward.
Ward says defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Chaz Sutton will be day-to-day at practices for the rest of the season due to nagging foot injuries for the both of them.
Clowney referenced having an issue with his foot in his post-game comments on Saturday, saying he would wait until the offseason to have the problem addressed surgically.
The junior defensive end has battled bone spurs since his high school years.
"It's painful," said Clowney. "I'm out here playing on it,
though, so I'm just trying to give everything I've got on it."
South Carolina travels to Orlando, Florida next weekend to play the Knights of the University of Central Florida.
