What drivers need to know about the GA-400 toll demolition

ALPHARETTA, GA (CBS46) -

In a few months the tolls on GA-400 will end.

On Tuesday night, more details were released about the demolition process.

State transportation leaders held the first of four public hearings on the matter in Alpharetta.

"We want to walk people through the process of what to expect," said Bert Brantley, deputy executive director of the State and Tollway Authority. "We don't want anybody confused about when they are coming up to the toll plaza and we want them to understand exactly what they are going to encounter."

The toll will stop the week before Thanksgiving.

Demolition is expected to be completed by spring 2014 at a cost of $14.5 million.

The next public hearing is Oct. 3.
