LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The woman accused of leaving her newborn to die in a department store trash can claims she only learned of the pregnancy one month before delivering her baby.
WAVE 3 News has obtained a copy of the videotaped Louisville Metro Police Department interrogation of Jessica Price, 29, of Bullitt County, following her arrest on August 8. Price stands charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
During the nearly three hour interview, Price admitted to experiencing a miscarriage in the past, and suspected that after she stopped feeling her daughter kick the morning of August 8, it had happened again.
"I had my period the entire time," said Price. "I have had a miscarriage before and it did the same thing. I just was home at the time when I lost the baby last time."
On the afternoon of August 8, Price said she began to feel severe cramping while working at the department store. When questioned why she did not seek medical attention, Price could not come up with an answer.
According to Price, she delivered the newborn into a toilet shortly after and then held the baby.
